Sports Motivation

Sport Motivation

I am a double international sportsman who reached the highest performance level of my time. I believe motivation is not only generated by competition against others but rather competing against your own standards. Learn how to harness and regulate your own energy flow so you can stay fresh and motivated. In order to retain high performance in your particular sport or activity set simple goals and then progress to longer range goals. Remember to make your goals realistic and achievable. It’s easy to get frustrated and give up if your goals are too ambitious. For example, a short-term goal might be to run 10 minutes a day three days a week. A larger goal might be to run 30 minutes five days a week. A long-term goal might be to complete a marathon. Whatever sport you play, if it’s hard finding time for exercise and training, try not to fall back on excuses. Schedule workouts as you would any other important activity. You can also slip in physical activity throughout the day for example take the stairs instead of the elevator. Pedal a stationary bike or do strength training exercises while you watch TV at night. If you’re not enjoying your workouts, try something different. Go along to a rock n roll class or attend a meditation session. Discover more hidden talents, this will give you a different perspective of what you normally do and take away the repetitiveness that’s causing your boredom. Remember, exercise doesn’t have to be a drag and you’re more likely to stick with a fitness program if you’re having fun. Always remember how far you have come and the results you have produced since you started with all your determination and skills that you have learned. You have grown in so many ways and should be proud of yourself. Keep it up because it’s never about giving up.
